Saajida A. Chohan is an educator, museum professional, and community advocate dedicated to fostering inclusive learning experiences. She currently serves as the Director of Education & Visitor Experience at the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia (BHMVA), where she leads strategic curriculum development, visitor engagement, and educational programming that aligns with the museum’s mission to preserve and share the rich history of African Americans. Through innovative tours, workshops, panels, and interactive initiatives, she ensures that diverse audiences connect deeply with African American heritage and culture.

With over 15 years of experience in the field of education, Saajida has held roles as an Adjunct Faculty member at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, an educator at The Valentine Museum, an education support specialist at Virginia State University and an English Instructor at Morgan State University, Brightpoint Community College, and Richmond Public Schools. Her expertise spans curriculum development, interactive workshops, and leading discussions on African American history, literature, humanities, and the arts.

Beyond her work in education and museums, Saajida is also an entrepreneur. She is the founder of Liquid Gold Apothecs llc, a business dedicated to holistic wellness, offering ethically sourced herbal and lapidary products that promote balance and well-being. Inspired by African traditions and natural healing practices, her work as an entrepreneur reflects her passion for cultural preservation and sustainability.

Saajida holds degrees in Literature from Virginia State University (M.A., B.A.). She has also earned certifications in Minority Political Leadership (VCU), Grant Writing (UVA), Sustainable Urban Agriculture (VSU), Women’s Entrepreneurship (Cornell University), and Master Gardening (Virginia Cooperative Extension). Her lifelong commitment to education, cultural advocacy, and entrepreneurship continues to shape her work in preserving and sharing African American history through impactful learning experiences.
