Dr. Shadae Harris is a visionary leader in education, renowned for her transformative impact on family engagement and student outcomes. As the former Chief Engagement Officer for Richmond Public Schools, Dr. Harris garnered national recognition for her groundbreaking leadership, achieving a remarkable reduction in chronic absenteeism across the district. Under her guidance, the division-wide chronic absenteeism rate dropped from nearly 40% at the height of the pandemic to as low as 18%, with significant improvements among English Learners and Hispanic students.
Dr. Harris also pioneered the creation of the district’s first-ever Office of Engagement, which centered on implementing effective engagement practices that prioritized relationships and were anchored in love. Her signature campaign, “We Love You Here,” exemplified her innovative approach, co-created alongside leaders and families, achieving tremendous success and fostering stronger connections within the community
